Challenger 601-3A 於 1987 年為 Canadair 的寬體商務機引進 Sperry SPZ-8000 玻璃駕駛艙與推力提升的 CF34-3A 發動機，1993 年推出的 601-3R 則換裝 CF34-3A1 發動機並標配尾部油箱。兩個版本共生產約 190 架後由 Challenger 604 接替，至今仍是以最低成本入手 8 ft 寬可站立客艙的途徑之一。
