El Learjet 45 fue el primer Learjet totalmente nuevo desde el Model 23 original; se certificó en 1997 y se entregó desde mediados de 1998. Combina una cabina de suelo plano con doble club, aviónica Honeywell Primus 1000 y motores TFE731-20, y se construyeron 248 de la versión original antes de que tomara el relevo el más pesado 45XR. Muchos vuelan en flotas de chárter y fraccionadas.
