El Citation Mustang fue la respuesta de Cessna al auge de los jets muy ligeros, un diseño totalmente nuevo de seis plazas con aviónica Garmin G1000 y motores PW615F que entró en servicio en 2006. Se construyeron casi 480 hasta 2017, y sigue siendo uno de los jets más asequibles y fiables para los pilotos-propietarios que dan el salto desde los turbohélices.
