# JetAtlas aircraft reference

Use published model specifications and labelled estimates to answer the user's aircraft question. Keep the user's requested aircraft and mission; resolve exact variants rather than substituting a different model silently.

## Access

Prefer already-connected JetAtlas MCP tools. Otherwise run the included CLI with `node <skill-directory>/scripts/jetatlas.cjs`; see `--help` and `schema search_aircraft`. Use `JETATLAS_BASE_URL` for the configured service origin and optional `JETATLAS_API_KEY` or `JETATLAS_API_KEY_FILE` for its existing read credential. Never put credentials in tool arguments or copy a database into the skill.

When reading this entry through MCP without local files, use its connected tools. Download and extract the matching skill archive only if a CLI environment is needed. Installation does not enable the service or grant permissions.

## Workflow

- Search with `search_aircraft` for the exact family or mission constraints. A requested range and typical passenger count are database filters, not dispatch feasibility.
- Read candidates with `get_aircraft`; use `compare_aircraft` for 2–4 exact returned slugs. Keep units and variant/configuration differences visible.
- Base the answer on returned facts. Separate manufacturer specifications from estimated new/used prices and costs. Missing values and `verified_at: null` stay unknown.
- Cite each model's `provenance.canonical_url` as JetAtlas. Use original source links when discussing a specific specification; they are not revalidated by the query. Respect `field_languages` when content falls back to English.
- If a credential is rejected, report the failure instead of removing it to obtain anonymous access. On 429, report `retry_after`/Retry-After and avoid a retry loop. On 404 or unavailable tools, explain that the endpoint/record may not be enabled; do not claim to have checked current data.
