Preowned jet market tightens as listings and price cuts fall

AircraftPost says preowned business jet transactions fell 2.5% year over year in the first nine months of 2026, while aircraft entering the market dropped 7%. Asking-price reductions fell 36.8%, pointing to fewer bargains for buyers.

  • 776 preowned business jet transactions in the first 9 months of 2026
  • Transactions were down 2.5% year over year
  • 1,149 aircraft entered the market, down 7%
  • 955 aircraft were for sale, down 2.7%
  • 361 asking-price reductions, down 36.8%

The used business jet market is getting tighter, not looser. AircraftPost data reported by AIN shows fewer preowned transactions, fewer new listings and fewer aircraft for sale through the first three quarters of 2026.

The headline figure is not just the 2.5% drop in sales to 776 jets. It is the 36.8% fall in asking-price reductions. That means sellers are cutting prices less often, even as total transaction volume softens. The Cessna Citation M2 led very-light-jet activity with 39 sales and an average 121 days on market.

This matters because many buyers expected more choice after the pandemic-era squeeze. Instead, desirable aircraft remain scarce in several categories. Buyers may find a calmer market than 2021 or 2022, but not necessarily a cheap one.
