Aviation Week sees 9,600 new business jets by 2036

Aviation Week’s new 10-year forecast calls for more than 9,600 business jet deliveries from 2027 through 2036. That would average about 960 jets a year, up 36% from the 2015–2026 average.

  • Forecast period: 2027–2036
  • More than 9,600 business jets projected
  • More than 2,600 business turboprops also projected
  • Current fleet listed at 37,100 aircraft as of September 26, 2026

Aviation Week’s latest fleet forecast points to a busier decade for business aircraft factories. It projects more than 9,600 business jet deliveries and over 2,600 turboprops from 2027 through 2036, helped by strong backlogs and demand for newer models.

The forecast puts average jet deliveries at about 960 per year, compared with roughly 700 a year from 2015 through 2026. Small jets are expected to lead by volume, with about 3,800 deliveries, while medium and large categories each sit just above 2,900.

The bigger message is that private aviation is still expanding after the pandemic-era surge. Aviation Week counts 37,100 business aircraft in service as of September 26, with North America holding 64% of the fleet. Fractional operators remain a bright spot, with Flexjet and NetJets showing large gains from 2019 levels.
