Citation CJ4 reaches 500 deliveries as Gen3 waits in the wings
Textron Aviation has delivered the 500th aircraft in the Cessna Citation CJ4 series. The milestone aircraft was a CJ4 Gen2 and went to a customer based in the Philippines.
The timing is useful for Textron because the CJ4 Gen3 is next in line. Aviation Week reports that the 500th delivery comes as the company prepares the model’s next chapter, with the Gen3 version moving toward the market.
The CJ4 sits in a sweet spot for many private flyers: smaller and cheaper to operate than a midsize jet, but with more room and reach than an entry-level light jet. Reaching 500 deliveries shows the staying power of the CitationJet family. It also gives Textron a ready-made owner base to court when the updated CJ4 arrives.
