New Piero Jet III concept claims 3,050 nm range in a six-seat VLJ
Germany’s Moving Terrain is seeking a manufacturing partner for the Piero Jet III, a patented very light jet design. The company claims 3,050 nautical miles of range, 440-knot cruise and takeoff in about 2,600 feet.
- Piero Jet III design publicized on October 29, 2026
- 3,050 nm claimed range with four passengers
- About 2,600 ft claimed takeoff distance
- 440 kt claimed cruise speed
- 9,240 lb maximum takeoff weight and six seats
Moving Terrain is shopping a very light jet design rather than launching a full aircraft company. The German aerospace technology firm says its Piero Jet III uses a slender high-mounted wing, a tapered fuselage and rear fuel tanks to cut drag.
The headline claims are striking for a six-seat VLJ: up to 3,050 nautical miles of range, 440-knot cruise, 50,000-foot cruise altitude and takeoff in about 2,600 feet. The company says the aircraft would have a 9,240-pound maximum takeoff weight and could use Pratt & Whitney Canada PW600-series or Williams FJ44 engines.
The comparison is what makes it interesting. Moving Terrain says the design could offer midsize-jet range with short-field performance near a Pilatus PC-12, while burning about one-quarter as much fuel as some larger jets. For now, though, it remains a design looking for a manufacturer.
