Preowned business jet market tightens as price cuts drop 36.8%
AircraftPost data shows fewer used business jets entering the market and fewer aircraft for sale through the first nine months of 2026. Asking-price reductions fell 36.8%, a sign sellers are under less pressure.
- 776 preowned jet transactions in the first 9 months of 2026
- Transactions down 2.5% year over year
- 1,149 aircraft entered the market, down 7%
- 955 aircraft were for sale, down 2.7%
- 361 asking-price reductions, down 36.8%
The used business jet market is getting tighter, not looser, according to AircraftPost data reported by AIN. Through the first three quarters of 2026, transactions, new listings and total aircraft for sale all declined from a year earlier.
AircraftPost counted 776 transactions, down 2.5% year over year. Aircraft entering the market fell 7% to 1,149, while the number for sale dipped 2.7% to 955. The sharpest signal was price behavior: asking-price reductions dropped 36.8% to 361.
That suggests sellers do not feel they need to discount as often. The market is not uniformly hot, and results vary by aircraft size and model, but scarcer inventory can support values. For buyers, the message is simple: the bargain-hunting phase of the post-pandemic market is not arriving evenly.
