The HondaJet Elite II is the latest version of Honda's over-the-wing engine mount design, with increased fuel for a 1,547 nm range, a higher takeoff weight and Garmin G3000 avionics with autothrottle and emergency Autoland. Its unconventional configuration frees cabin space and reduces noise, and the HondaJet has been the most-delivered very light jet for several years.
The Vision Jet is the world's only single-engine personal jet in production, famous for its whole-airframe parachute and the Safe Return emergency autoland system. The G2+ version added a takeoff-thrust boost and Gogo connectivity, and with more than 700 delivered the SF50 has been the best-selling jet by unit volume for several consecutive years.
The Phenom 100EX is the third generation of Embraer's entry-level jet, adding the Phenom 300E's Bossa Nova-inspired interior, a runway overrun awareness system and a larger baggage door to the 100EV platform. It retains the oval-cross-section cabin that is the roomiest among very light jets, with a 1,178 nm range and 406 kt cruise.
The Citation Mustang was Cessna's answer to the very-light-jet boom, an all-new six-seat design with Garmin G1000 avionics and PW615F engines that entered service in 2006. Nearly 480 were built through 2017, and it remains one of the most affordable and reliable jets for owner-pilots making the transition from turboprops.
The Eclipse 550 was the production revival of the Eclipse 500, the aircraft that launched the very-light-jet category, adding anti-skid brakes, synthetic vision and auto-throttles. Only about 35 were built by Eclipse Aerospace and One Aviation before production stopped in 2017, but the type's twin-engine safety and 65 gph fuel burn keep it popular with owner-pilots.
