Piaggio Avanti turns 40 with more than 270 delivered
Piaggio Aerospace marked 40 years since the P.180 Avanti’s first flight and said more than 270 Avanti variants have been delivered. The latest Evo version has passed 40 sales since its first customer delivery in 2015.
- P.180 Avanti first flew in September 1986
- More than 270 Avanti variants delivered
- More than 40 Avanti Evo aircraft sold
- 2 Evos recently sold to a Turkish operator
- Piaggio targets up to 30 aircraft per year
Piaggio Aerospace is marking two milestones for the P.180 Avanti: 40 years since the unusual pusher turboprop first flew, and more than 40 sales of the current Evo version. More than 270 Avanti-family aircraft have been delivered over four decades.
The company also recently sold two Evos to a Turkish operator, adding to the type’s business aviation footprint. The Evo can carry up to seven passengers and remains one of the more distinctive alternatives to a light jet.
The anniversary comes after Turkish aerospace company Baykar acquired Piaggio in 2025. Piaggio says it wants to rebuild support and gradually raise annual production to as many as 30 aircraft, a notable target for a niche type emerging from years of restructuring.
