SmartJets says long-range aircraft are leading a hot used-jet market
SmartJets expects a strong finish to 2026, pointing to Amstat data showing preowned business jet transactions up 7% year over year in the first half.
- Sept. 30, 2026: AIN reported SmartJets’ fourth-quarter market view
- Preowned business jet transactions rose 7% in H1 2026
- Long-range jets are expected to be the fastest-growing segment
- Demand is coming from UHNW buyers and corporate flight departments
- Bombardier Global 7500 cited among models SmartJets has sold in 2026
SmartJets is telling buyers and sellers to expect the used business jet market to stay lively through year-end. The broker says long-range models are doing especially well because new-aircraft backlogs remain long and many buyers still want lift now, not several years from now.
The headline number is a 7% year-over-year rise in preowned business jet transactions in the first half of 2026, based on Amstat data cited by SmartJets. The company also singled out long-range aircraft as the segment with the strongest growth prospects.
That matters because the upper end of the private jet market often sets the tone for pricing and inventory. If big-cabin aircraft remain tight, buyers may keep chasing newer used jets, while sellers of desirable long-range models may have more leverage than owners of older or smaller aircraft.
