The Global 5500 is the shorter companion to the Global 6500, offering the same Pearl 15 engines and Vision flight deck with a 5,900 nm range. It gives operators a three-zone Global cabin at a lower price point and serves as Bombardier's answer to the Gulfstream G500 and Falcon 6X.
The Falcon 6X entered service in late 2023 as Dassault's first large twin, with the widest and tallest cabin of any purpose-built business jet until the 10X arrives. Its 5,500 nm range, PW812D engines and third-generation digital flight controls make it a direct competitor to the G500 and Global 5500, and deliveries reached about 25 by the end of 2025.
The G500 introduced Gulfstream's clean-sheet GVII family in 2018, with full fly-by-wire controls, active sidesticks and the touchscreen-based Symmetry flight deck. Its 5,300 nm range at Mach 0.85 connects Los Angeles with London or New York with Dubai, and the type has become the backbone of Gulfstream's large-cabin sales.
The Global 5000 shortened the Global Express fuselage to create a lighter, more affordable large-cabin jet with a 5,200 nm range after later fuel upgrades. Produced from 2005 to 2020, it retained the full Global cabin width and became a popular choice for corporate operators who did not need the flagship's range.
The Falcon 900LX is the latest version of the Falcon 900 trijet family, adding blended winglets for a 4,750 nm range and Dassault's EASy II flight deck. It remains the lightest large-cabin jet in production, which translates into low fuel burn, access to short runways and one of the best operating economics in its class.
The Falcon 900EX EASy introduced Dassault's Honeywell-based EASy flight deck to the 900 series in 2003, along with a 4,500 nm range and the trijet's hallmark short-field performance. It was succeeded by the 900LX in 2010 and now offers large-cabin buyers a well-supported aircraft at mid-size prices.
The G450 modernized the GIV line with a lengthened forward fuselage, the PlaneView cockpit and upgraded Tay engines. Produced from 2005 to 2018, it delivered a 4,350 nm range and Gulfstream's signature large oval windows at a price point well below the G550, and it remains a popular value proposition on the used market.
The GIV-SP (Special Performance) upgraded the original Gulfstream IV with higher landing weights and improved payload-range, becoming the definitive large-cabin jet of the 1990s. Roughly 300 were delivered before the G400 and G450 took over, and the type continues to offer one of the lowest acquisition costs for a Gulfstream cabin.
The G400 brings Gulfstream's Symmetry flight deck and fly-by-wire architecture to the entry-level large-cabin segment. First flown in August 2024, it shares its fuselage cross-section with the G500 and G600 while targeting 4,200 nm of range on new PW812GA engines, with certification and first deliveries expected in 2026.
The Challenger 650 is the latest evolution of the wide-body Challenger 600 lineage that dates to 1980, adding the Vision flight deck, uprated CF34-3B MTO engines and a fully redesigned cabin. Its 8.2 ft cabin width is the broadest in the large class, and the type is widely used for VIP, medevac and government missions.
The Challenger 605 updated the 604 with the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 flight deck, larger windows and a refreshed interior while keeping the reliable CF34-3B engines. Nearly 290 were delivered between 2007 and 2015, and it remains one of the most cost-effective ways into a stand-up, wide-body cabin with 4,000 nm of range.
The Challenger 604 introduced a strengthened wing, more fuel and CF34-3B engines to the Challenger line in 1996, giving the wide-body cabin a genuine 4,000 nm transatlantic reach. With about 365 built, it is a mainstay of charter fleets and government operators and offers exceptional cabin volume per dollar.
The Falcon 2000LXS combines the 2000LX's winglets and 4,000 nm range with the 2000S's inboard slats, giving a large-cabin twin that can use runways under 5,000 ft. With a wide Falcon cross-section, EASy II avionics and modest fuel burn, it is a long-standing favorite of corporate flight departments that value efficiency.
The Legacy 650E was the final version of Embraer's ERJ-135-derived large jet, adding synthetic vision, an autothrottle and a ten-year warranty to the three-zone, 14-seat cabin. Produced in small numbers from 2016 to 2020, it offers exceptional cabin length and baggage volume for its price, with a 3,900 nm range.
The Falcon 2000EX replaced the original 2000's CFE738 engines with PW308C turbofans and added fuel, boosting range to 3,800 nm and laying the foundation for the EASy, DX and LX variants. Produced through 2010, it delivers a wide-body cabin and transatlantic capability for the price of a new light jet.
